KICK OUT COVID19 CAMPUS CAMPAIGN held today at Lagos State University Main Auditorium by 10:30am, the flaging off of this epoch program is the first Institutions global fight against Covid-19. The coalition is imperative towards keeping our campus and environs save.
The walk which started from 9am from Eco Library down to the main auditorium, was a starter to the program which eventually started by 10:30am.
The Dean; School of Communication Prof Sunday O.A delievered the opening speech, while in attendance was the representative of the acting V.C in person of Dr. Nasser Awojobi the Director of Lasu health service explaninig how covid-19 began in Nigeria.
He explains the steps taken by the LASU Authentic from the distribution of buckets, hand sanitizers, taps made at the two gates and so much more,
he also commended LASU students for their co operation and the school authorities for the steps taken as compared to some institutions still making use of virtual learning, which can in no way be compared to the physical learning pattern.
He therefore urges the students to follow necessary precautions (No hand shaking, personal saniters, no hugging, no kissing and so more)
He mentioned that Nigerian has less than 100 cases since necessary precautions are taken and vaccines worth over 4 million naira has been provided by the government.
The vaccines has 4 phases, he stated
1. Front liners : Health centers,Armed Forces,Higher Civil servants and so on
2.Age group from 50 and above
3.People facing different kinds of diseases
4.Age group from 15 - 49.
Also in attendance was the representative of the guest speaker in person of Waheed.I.Ishola,
He mentioned to the students steps taken by the National Orientation Agency during the outbreak of Covid19 in the country UNICEF helped in tracing everyone that traveled out of the country then and got in touch with all the local government for the 3 months for the awareness on their health issues, motorists complains (Religious centres, crowded areas) from 6th of july to 6 August 2020 completing a month this was done with division of 5 teams, flyers, sensitization.
Mr Waheed, then spoke about the theme Establishing A Free Covid19 Campus, tasking the students to maintain neccessary precautions if which we all are aware of,
There was a lot of fun, while sponsors such as Terra-maggi gave the students free seasoning cubes.
The event witnessed entourage of high profile guest, Celebrities and Students accross different Faculties, award presentations' sessions as well.
Nigeria Media Festival (Nimfest) member Mr. Issa Ochebe gave the closing remark.
