"Write Lasu Into The Books Of Global History" - LASU VC

The vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello on Monday 15 February,  appealed to the pre NUGA athletes to go, compete and make the university proud in the upcoming NUGA.

The Nigerian Universities Game (NUGA)  is scheduled to hold it's 26th edition on March 16 to 27, 2022 at the University of Lagos. 

However, The Lagos State University belongs to the pre nuga competition of zone A which commences from 16th to 19th of February 2022.

In her brief speech, the LASU VC said "Having gone through the rigours of preparing towards this competition, it is now time to showcase the stuff that champions are made of. You must not rest until the name of LASU is written on the global sports stage. As worthy ambassadors of the university, I want you all to make her proud.”

Prof. Olatunji-Bello was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor,  Administration, Prof. Adenike Boyo,  at the Hussam Okoya Thomas Sports Complex, Main Campus, Ojo where the team was getting set to leave for the Tai Solarin University of Education,  Abeokuta, Ogun State, where the game will take place. 

"Compete cleanly, fairly, and remember, this is your time to excel. Socialize, make us proud, make us great, go out there and conquer the world because we are LASU, we are great", she said, adding that she would personally visit the team during the competition”. She retorted. 

The Registrar,  Mr. Olayinka Amuni and the University Librarian, Dr. Emmanuel Layi Adebayo, who joined the DVC on the visit, also added their voices in stimulating the sportsmen to succeed. 

"Nothing should hold you back. When you compete,  think about the thousands of LASU staff and students supporting you. We shall be there with you in spirit. By the grace of God, you will excel. Motivate yourself, be in high spirit and success will be yours", were the words of the registrar. 

The President of the Lagos State University Students Union LASUSU, Uthman Badmus  popularly known as BADECIOUS, also persuaded them to bring glory to their respective families and the university. 

The Chairman, Sports Council, Prof. Abari, Director, Sports Centre, Dr. Segun Olawunmi and other officials of the Sports fraternity were on the ground to receive the Management.
