On Sunday, the Youth Digest(Organisers and sponsors of the Campus Journalists Awards) shortlists thirty finalists for the Campus Journalism Awards. The students of the Association of Campus Journalists, LASU in excitement congratulates one of their colleagues for being part of these shortlisted finalist.
Mariam Ileyemi, popularly known to have started her journey into the media world most especially journalism on a terrible noteis being appraised for her achievements so far. She did not only get shortlisted but above all was among the first tenth on the list.
According to reports, a total of about 266 entries were received from over 50 institutions. The finalist, according to reports were selected after a serious scrutiny exercise by a special committee for fifteen categories of the awards.
Also in another category is the annual publication of students of the school of communication, known as LASUGONG. The newspaper is an annual paper that is being produced by penultimate students of the school of communication and the 2019 edition was led by the editor in Chief Balogun Azeez along side the Editorial board.
This 2019 edition of LASUGONG was endorsed by LASU Vice Chancellor, Olarenwaju Fagboun and Minister of works Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola. It finally got its well-deserved recognition after it was shortlisted for Campus Newspaper of the Year at this year's Campus journalists awards after one year of publication.
Nevertheless, Alfred Olufemi, who headed the screening committee relates that the eventual winners of the categories of Campus of Journalisn Awards will be announced after a final screening by a panel of judges at Abuja on the 28th, March, 2020.
Also, the winner of the Campus Investigative Challenge sponsored by CISLAC will be announced on that day. The finalists according to reports will as well be provided with accommodation, food and stipends for local transport.
