By Akeredolu Israel As of 1:21 p.m. on November 1, 2023, the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) has yet to commence its scheduled voting process, which was initially set for 10 a.m. Students gathered at the faculty entrance have endured scorching sunlight, growing increasingly anxious as hours pass with no sign of voting. Oreoluwa, representing ZARA, confirmed that the election was supposed to begin at 10 a.m., but as of 12:21 p.m, no progress had been made. In an effort to clarify the situation, the ACJ agent was granted access to the voting room. Akinfolarin Olumide Isiah, the Public Relations Officer of the Independent Electoral Committee overseeing the Lasusu election, assured concerned parties that "everything is under control." He emphasized their commitment to a free, fair, and transparent election and explained that E-voting was introduced to prevent overcrowding and maintain order. Aspirants' agents gained access to the voting hall, and security remained tight. Notably, Adeyemi, a general secretary aspirant, and KAPPA, a presidential aspirant, visited to ensure their agents' participation. However, an issue arose as canvassers were asked to exit the voting hall, leaving only one agent per aspirant. Maverick's agent expressed concern about students' tokens being collected to vote on their behalf due to the absence of laptops or computers in the voting hall. In May 28, 2011, after the longest legislative session in the history of Nigeria that lasted for twelve hours, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) was signed into law, joining a league of democratic nations that have enacted this law.  The FOIA makes access to public records and information possible by obligating public authorities to make certain information about their records and activities available to the public, as well as giving the public the right to request for this information. Ten years after enacting the FOIA, which seeks to promote transparency, its results have been mixed. Similoluwa Ifedayo, reporting from the Faculty of Law, brings us the final update on the student election.  The election process has come to an end with a calm atmosphere prevailing throughout. Members of the Faculty of Law have cast their votes and are now sitting around the Law Pavilion. Aspirants, including DVD, were seen around the polling unit monitoring the election process. By Ogunlaja Oluwanifesimi Comrade Olayiwola Ayodeji, popularly known as Stakeholder, has been disqualified from the 33rd Lagos State University Students' Union presidential race due to a violation of the LASUSU Electoral Act.  The Independent Electoral Committee (LASUSU-IEC) announced the disqualification alongside other presidential screening results on February, 2022, just two days before the LASUSU General election. According to the LASUSU-IEC, Stakeholder breached Section 9(2)b of the electoral act by sponsoring advertisements for his political campaign through his faculty's Ad-Hoc IEC via WhatsApp. The disqualification has sparked divided reactions among Stakeholder's supporters, with some demanding evidence to support the IEC's claim and others awaiting Stakeholder's decision on potential legal action.

This to ensure financial transparency and accountability in the current and incoming student government administration. The committee, led by Comrade Alaka Abdullahi, will be known as the "Diaphanous Team." The primary responsibility of the 33rd LASUSU IAC is to conduct an independent review of the financial records of the current student government and those who are running for office to ensure that there has been no financial misconduct.  The committee will also examine the financial records of the student government during the transition period to ensure a smooth transfer of financial responsibility from one administration to the next.
