It was in this meeting a 400level of the School of Communication relates initial aspirations of becoming a Public Relations Practioner to a Practising Journalist.

Ileyemi Mariam related her plights to the trainees during her beginners stage as a journalist. Sub-Editor Mariam never failed to tell the students how she picked interest in the art of news writing as well as how it created opportunities for her.

She said that before she joined ACJ, she was a terrible writer but with time and constant practise, she improved to the extent where did not need editors anymore rather she published her reports herself after writing. She lectured the trainees on news writing, giving them some hints and determinants of a news report. Mariam gave more incites on the nitty gritty of a news report citing an experience of the first news report she wrote that was published on lasucom.

She appraised the work even as she told the trainees that it was a report from a book given to her by a lecturer who according to her did a little corrections tion before uploading it. Furthermore, she encouraged the students to put news writing I to practice and endeavor to submit to the association's editors of whom she promised will not turn then down. This she opines when she says, "You guys should try and send it to anybody, am very when sure when you send it to any of these editors, nobody will turn you down, we will encourage you." She placed emphasis on headlines and leads which she considered as two major aspects of a news report. Stating her observations on the news report sent to to the ACJ website, she relates the misconception of people as regards the bye line to the students saying, "And then they come up with; it's not me that wrote the story but it's my name. I was the one that wrote the story but its not my name.

Those kind of things are not nice because I don't expect going through stress to gather my story and Afeez name will be there to take the credit."

The Sub- Editor Mariam was soon alerted on her exceesion of the time frame given to her by the HOD Journalism in person of Rabiu Afeez. She concluded her section though she was unable to cover up her topic.
