SPC Suspends Ibiade, Forgives Tobun, Despite Committing Similar, Weightier Offence.

​ The Students' Representative Council led by  Rt. Hon Hassan Haleemah Abimbola has indefinitely suspended Comrade Benjamin Ibiade from his position as the LASUSU PRO.  This happened on the 23rd of February, 2024, at the Hallowed Chamber wing of the Students' Arcade following allegations of misappropriation of funds, lack of accountability, and gross disregard for the Hallowed Chamber.  However, LASUSU president, Comrade Haroun Tobun Dolapo, escaped suspension despite committing much similar offenses.  According to an anonymous source, during the emergency gathering yesterday, Ibiade, Tobun, and other members of the Executives-in-council were summoned to the house to defend themselves over their respective allegations. By Damilare Adeyeye  Perhaps, the majority believe that the final outcome of the Lagos State University Students' Union election is not truly the reflection of the decision of the student populace. While some assume that the results are usually tampered with by some high-powered individuals within the university, it is a totally conceived notion of some people that the election is always manipulated by some 'big' and influential persons beyond the four walls of LASU.  Notwithstanding, as another LASUSU election draws closer again, the debate of who truly decides the election remains unabated with some persons making palpable references to previous elections. My Experience, Assessment of the LASUSU 2022 Intervarsity Debate Competition

By Similoluwa Ifedayo  The thrills, electrifying atmosphere, grammatic display as well as the reward for victory and display of academic excellence at the just concluded LASUSU Intervarsity Debate Competition for 2022 still lingers on in the minds of participants, me in particular. This year's competition had its semi-finals on Monday, 5th December 2022, and the grand-finale on Tuesday, 6th December 2022, featuring 10 universities out of 9 participated in the debate round and 4 moved on to the final round having scaled through rigorous stages of research, drafting, writing, editing, internalizing and speaking. As a matter of fact, the presence of seasoned judges/panelists at the event cannot be overlooked. It was, undoubtedly an event to remember for the best. However, in spite of the way the event turn out, this piece is a trilogy of the knowledge I acquired, my thoughts on the participants, and a tribute to the organisers of this debate competition. ​ Ibrahim Damilare The 29th Faculty of Art Public Relations Officer, Adebisi Testimony Aduragbemi fondly called EriofLagos, has debunked claims that he had stepped down from the forthcoming 33rd LASUSU General Elections.  He disclosed the new development to ACJ-LASU correspondent on Wednesday. According to him, the viral claims of his supposed withdrawal are to be seen as as false and fake news as he was not aware of the story whatsoever.  In his words, “I didn't hear about any such speculation. But, I have never at any point in time dropped LASUSU aspiration. So, I am not aware of the speculation. This is fake news.’’  Speaking further, Comr. LASUSU: IEC Releases Substantive Results of New Executives

By Damilare Adeleye The Lagos State University Students Union- Independent Electoral Committee has released the substantive results of the newly elected LASUSU executives.  The election exercise which was declared by the Chief electoral chairman of the Electoral Committee as free and fair, was conducted yesterday across the various faculties in in the three major campuses of LASU.  According to the result which was obtained by ACJ-LASU correspondent to earlier today, confirmed Adelankun Adeoye as the Elected LASUSU President. It was gathered that Adeoye, the 28th President of Faculty of Arts Students Association, defeated all his three opponents with a total votes of 2208.  Meanwhile, Oresanya Zakariaya popularly known as E. Zaculus case 1863 votes to emerge as the First runner, while Aina Oluwafemi also called "Femland" made with 1686 votes and Ibraimoh Igbo Ibrahim took 1229 votes. By Fareedat Taofeeq One of the Communication Student Association of Lagos State University, COSA-LASU Presidential aspirants have filed a case against the COSA independent Electoral Commission, IEC due to the latter disqualifying him from contesting for the 16th COSA election. According to the facts and reports gathered by the reporter, the Claimant: Ogunkanmi Adefolarin Jacob popularly known as J4, who was contesting for the post of the President of the Association (COSA) was disqualified for not meeting the requirement for the post he is contesting for. The requirement in question has to do with the spending of at least two academic sessions in the University before a Communication Student can run for the Presidential seat of the association. 31st LASUSU Champions League Delay: Sports Director Clears Airs, Gives New Date

By Dorcas Alao In  a bid to ease the  tension surrounding the delay of the 31st Lagos State University Student's Union, LASUSU Championns League competition, the Union's Sports Director, Adeyemo Azeez Olamilekan popularly known as Hayzed 10 has cleared the air on the matter, with a new date for continuation of the event. It should be recalled that on March 2, 2022,   an altercation occurred between the Faculty of Engineering and Arts football team at the Sports Complex which triggered the delay of the event till further notice. By Aremu Ajoke and Abdulsemiu Monsuroh The chief judge of the Lagos State University Student Union High Court, Justice Daniel Akinyami kicked out the case between Atiku Semiu and Liadi AbdulAzeez at the Otunba Ajayi Okunnuga Moot Court, Lagos State University, Ojo, Campus on Thursday,10th of February, 2022. The case was brought before the LASUSU high court on the 4th of January 2022 by Semiu Timilehin, a member of the FASA SRC representing the Philosophy constituency who claimed to have been impeached illegally on the 8th of November 2021 by Liadi AbdulAzeed .   The Counsel to the Claimant, F.C Nwaikw claimed before the court that the claimant was robbed of his office from the house of an honourable member of the faculty of art.
