Lagos State University School of Communication (LASUSOC) held her 15th Faculty election on Thursday, 14 June, 2021 at the School of Communication New Faculty Building Lecture Hall 1.
The election which was held to fill in various executive positions in the Students' association started at about 11:00 AM.
Twenty Five members of the Independent Electoral Committee(IEC), Independent Audit Committee(IAC), Electoral Petition Committee(EPC), turned up in their uniforms indicating their various positions in the different committees. Media Personnel were also given tags for recognition.
The requirements for exercising voting right was either the Students School ID Card, COSA ID Card or Printed course form. Electorates with either one of the aforementioned requirements for voting formed a queue maintained by the security officials.
In observing COVID -19 protocols and also preventing rowdiness, students were ushered into the voting hall, Four at a time as they moved on to the accreditation stage attended to by Five IEC Members each representing different levels, Agents were also seen canvassing votes for their aspirants.
The electorates then moved to collect ballot papers after which they were directed to sit and tick the box in front of their preferred candidates. After choosing their desired candidate, electorates moved on to cast their votes into the 15 ballot boxes with direction from committee members.
The Dean, Prof. Sunday Alawode, as well as other Senior Lecturers from the faculty such as, Dr Omolade Atofojomo and Dr. Julius Adeyemo visited the Voting Center. The Dean Of School Of Communication, Prof. Alawode, urged the students to maintain their calmness until the end of the election saying, "It isn't over until it's over". The voting process was peaceful, orderly and was violence free.
The counting of votes started at 4pm with the Level Adviser, Dr. Stephen Fatonji as an observer. The outgoing COSA President, Funmilayo Akannishelle, mentioned that this was the first COSA election to have two candidates coming out for the presidential post.

In his closing remark, Dr. Stephen Fatonji said, "Everyone is a winner and we all shouldn't lose hope", COSA President, Funmi Akanshelle, expressed her gratitude to the members of the committee for ensuring a free and fair election, she also appreciated the students for their turn up, the event ended exactly 5:47pm.
