Most students enter the university system without fully understanding that it is significantly different from what they were used to, and that it requires a higher level of independence, discipline, and focus. For some, the excitement of newfound freedom and the idea of being a “university big boy or girl” can become a distraction from academic responsibilities. In the university, students are no longer spoon fed or closely monitored as they were in secondary school. Learning becomes largely dependent on self motivation, commitment, and self discipline. LASU to Host Global Scholars at International Conference on Community Psychology 2026

By Ameenat Hamzat, Jenti Alasepeloluwa  Lagos State University (LASU) will host the 11th International Conference of Community Psychology (ICCP 2026), expecting over 700 international delegates from Africa, Europe, and the United States, alongside national participants, marking one of the largest international academic gatherings in Lagos for 2026. The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, announced this development during a press conference held on Monday at the institution's Senate Building Conference Hall. Professor Olatunji-Bello outlined the conference structure, which will unfold in three phases: a pre-conference session from August 28-30, the main conference from September 1-4, and a post-conference program from September 5-7, 2026.
