South West Campus Journalists congratulates First Female NUJ Chairman in Ogun

Campus Journalists in Southwestern part of Nigeria Under the umbrella of National Union of campus Journalists, Nigeria (NUCJ) South West Region has Congratulated the new elected Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council Mrs Oluremi Olugbenro.

Olugbenro who is a female journalist with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Paramount FM, Abeokuta in Ogun State, is the first female Chairman of Ogun NUJ.

Olugbenro was returned elected unopposed by the NUJ Screening and Credentials committee that conducted the election.

The NUJ National headquarters in a statement issued in Abuja by the Senior Assistant National Secretary, Mr. Gbemiga Bamidele approved the report of the Ogun state Screening and Credentials committee and declared Olugbenro and six others as duly elected. 

Reacting to the Victory, NUCJ south West said that Mrs Olugbenro has been the pillar of NUJ in the state before being elected.

In a Release signed by the Secretary/Coordinator of NUCJ South West, Hassan Abdulsalam Urged Olugbenro to use the office to impact on Campus Journalists.

According to the release, "We congratulate the newly elected chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council, Mrs. Oluremi Olugbenro.

"Mrs. Oluremi who happens to be the first female chairman of NUJ in Ogun state has always been a mother to the society, whenever needed. She has been acting as a pillar to maintain peace in society.

"NUCJ Southwest family was happy to receive the news of her emergence as the newly elected Chairman of Ogun NUJ.

*We are proud of you and,we know that you'll justify your position. We wish to receive your selfless service towards the development of our great union–National Union Of Campus Journalists,Nigeria(NUCJ) and hope that you will justify the expectation.

Being the first female president in the union, we implore her to unite the union for peace to reign amongst it members."

Other members of the new Ogun NUJ Cabinet include Mr. Olanrewaju Daud as Vice Chairman, Adigun Bunmi as Secretary and Fakeye Simon as Assistant Secretary.

Mr Anthony Gandonu as the Treasurer, while Oyebade Adegoke is the Financial Secretary and Mr. Lawal Abiodun is the Internal Auditor.
