Lasu celebrates 24th convocation ceremony In grand style. Oyeyebi Ziyadat

The Lagos State University, LASU held its 24th convocation ceremony on Friday March 13, 2020 at it's new Senate building on campus.

This ceremony is said to be the first to hold at the Senate building since it's completion.

However, the ceremony started with the National and school's anthem few mins after the hour of 11. The people who were present were; Vice Chancellor, Prof.Olarenwaju A. Fagbohun, Deputy VC, Registrar, School librarian, Academic staff, members of the Senate and many pressmen of different media houses. " We apologise for starting this programme late" the VC added.

His humility made me apologise to everyone who were present as he might not be able to attend all questions. The current VC is set to leave the office soon.

According to him, "This is going to be my last Convocation Ceremony. He assured all of the continuity and progress of LASU in his absence.

The 24th convocation ceremony which will cap a successful 2018/2019 session will last from Friday March 20th till Friday March 27th, 2020.

The events will range from coconut breaking to Thanksgiving at the chapel and mosque and also the naming of infrastructures and street naming. "I can assure you these events are fully loaded, there shall be naming of infrastructures and streets after the alumnis that have made huge contributions to the university in the last 4 to 5 years.

There shall be a rename after Babatunde Raji Fashola, Prof. Abisogun Olabode, Enitan Abisogun, Jadeola Olayinka and Afolabi Olumide. In addition to this, the VC said " the 24th convocation ceremony is a departure from those of previous years and the goal is to celebrate and create more opportunities for our graduating students".

The University is graduating the total number of 6197 graduants and 75 first class honors which is said to be the first in the history of the university and first ever in English language. Having its best graduating best student to be Shotunde Oladimeji Idris with a Cumulative grade of 4.95.

The award of degrees will last for three days and the first class students will be treated to a dinner celebration in a five star hotel.
