The College of medicine of the prestigious Lagos State University appears to be running a very strange school calendar as the medical and dental students are set to resume on monday the 16th of march exactly 35 days after the rest of the school's main campus resumed alongside the students of engineering at the Epe campus and their peers in Pharmacology, Nursing and Physiology.
This extended break is not unusual for medical students as this practice has been going on for years for reasons no-one knows why. It has been rumored amongst senior students at the college that this particular 35 days break is shorter as their break is usually two months after the rest of the school had resumed.
Students in the departments of Pharmacology, Nursing and Physiology consider this act unfair on them as lectures have already commenced for them so has a bunch of school induced stress such as searching for suitable and inexpensive accommodation around the school.
They feel the medical students are always over pampered for no just cause and that they deserve this break too as they have to struggle mostly between classes and searching for hostels at the same time which is tiring for many.
Medical students however appear to have it better at the momment because they've had enough comfort at home and enough time to get prepared for life as a medical student, but that's all the fun they'll ever be getting as it has been made known to then that there will be no more breaks, holidays nor weekends for them as it is work all through till they graduate.
Apparently their 'break-time' is only to gather enough strength for the work that lies ahead.
