OPINION: On the FFK hullabaloo and the Nigerian Journalist

The Issue of FFK and the journalist generated a lot of controversy, everyone chose their own part, but no one chose to look at it from the angle of the journalist. I was disappointed though when I learnt about his age, just six years younger but that's the power of money.. that's the power of the average Nigerian man.

Now let me address the video. FFK clearly understood the question but he was caught off guard and the weight of the word too..

Now let's answer some questions on how the whole thing happened?

Who's FFK?
A self acclaimed lawyer and a former minister. He now belongs to the opposition party.

What's his mission?
He was touring states, checking up on projects and doing press briefing.

Something we all should ask what was the question the journalist asked. Does FFK has the authority to do that? The answer is a big NO he's not a government appointee or belongs to the current dispensation, so how did the press conference happened?

The journalist

It's saddening to see that most Nigerians understand our plight and how "peculiar" we are, but chose to compare us with other countries.

Truth is, journalist are poorly paid, underpaid and they don't get paid, sometimes. Lekan Otufodunrin revealed in this Book that when he started he worked for close to a year without getting paid. Even when the pandemic started, he revealed a big media organization hasn't paid it workers for months.

PT nko? They devised a means to ensure that people key into their vision and gave some benefits in exchange.

Did you guys read the part where the journalist claimed FFK called his Editor to sack him?

Tinubu is acclaimed to own The Nation and TVC, now imagine a journalist with The Nation questioning APC led projects? The media is owned by politicians, check how many media outfits are owned by politicians. Aside adverts from companies, the next source of revenue for media outfits is politics (campaigns, birthday greetings, rejoinders e.t.c). The journalist fought for his stomach first, then his family and safety.

Trust me, if not for social media, the matter will die and the journalist will lose his job. He can't go to the court, and even if he did, i can Guarantee nothing will happen.

There's controversy trailing the disappearance of Jubril Gawat till date. What has happened? Nothing..

What did the NUJ (the umbrella of journalist) do afterwards? Audio threat.

The politics in Nigeria is miles deep and inch wide like specialized reporting. Politics has several root, it is a cankerworm, it's present in every facet of the Nigerian society.

Like the Yoruba proverb, if your hand is not on the gilt of the sword, you will never have the courage to ask about how your father died

Hence you get that question?

Do you know who I am?

Who's your father in this land?
