Webinar suggests measures to sustain Fake news regulation as COVID-19 persists

By Rachel Adio A virtual public event provided some effective measures to regulate fake news in Nigeria as COVID-19 persists. Curbing the menace of fake news without infringing on human rights is a major concern for most media practitioners. It is on this note, People’s Check a fact-checking organization organized a webinar, themed, “Sustaining fake news regulation as Covid-19 persists: Involving the entire public in the process ". The event held on the 5th of September, 2020, had two speakers, Ejiro Umukoro, a multi-award winning broadcaster, investigative journalist, and social entrepreneur and, Kunle Adebajo, a senior investigative reporter, and a fellow at Humangle and Dubawa. Students, Staff Denied Access to LASU Campus Over New Minimum Wage Row

By Ayomide Sotubo Students and members of staff of the Lagos State University have been denied access into the the school enviroment for the furtherance of academic activities due to resistance of academic and non academic tertiary unions over the implementation of the payment of the new minimum wage This comes after the school management announced that final year and postgraduate students were clear to resume today. While members of the LASU community attempted to make their way into the campus early this morning, it was discovered that both entrances leading into the campus was locked, therefore constituting a pause in the proposed resumption. The new developments are sequel to the demands for the discharge of the new #30,000 minimum wage to be effected by the Lagos State government for academic and non academic staff.
