ACJ-LASU former Deputy Editor wins big at Campus Journalism awards

Ileyemi Mariam, the founder of Yossy Info blog and a current Writing Fellow at African Liberty has won the Photojournalist of the year category at the Campus Journalism Awards 2020 held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.










The 2020 graduate of Mass communication at Lagos State University who won the 2019 Mammal Marshall Scholarship for Women in Journalism and a proud volunteer was shortlisted as one of the 30-man finalist of Best Campus Journalists for Campus Journalism Awards 2020.






Mariam who was also the former Deputy Editor at the Association of Campus Journalists won the 2020 photojournalism awards with a photo story published on her blog, of how a sudden hike in transport fare left LASU students stranded at the school gate till late at night.






She started blogging when she was in 200level, and was able to make remarkable stories and impacts with her blog, “Yossy info”.
In an interview with her she said "I am glad to have won an award due to a story published on my blog. I actually applied for two categories; luckily, I got shortlisted and won the Photojournalist category of the award”.










Mariam in excitement also said "It was amazing meeting great minds and scholars from various universities across Nigeria and all thanks to the organizers of this award for this initiative aimed at celebrating and awarding outstanding campus journalists in Nigeria"
The event was organized by “News Digest” a News and Information platform in Nigeria, as the purpose of the event serves to groom and celebrates campus journalists across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
