#NUCJDECIDES2021: Here are the winners

Fellow Esteemed Journalists,

The results of the National Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ) election held Saturday, January 23rd, 2021, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. have been collated.

The Electoral Committee commends all members for their contribution to the success of this year's elections, amidst the restraints caused by COVID-19.

But like the phoenix we are, we came out strong and weathered the storm – unscathed.

Now to the announcement of the results:

Registered voter: 124
Total Voters: 93
Voter's Turnout: 75%

Here is how the candidates fared:

Office of the President

✅ Ajala Samuel – 88 votes

Returned as elected

Abdulbasit Abdulazeez – 5 votes

Office of the Vice President

✅ Eze Glory Chika – 93 votes

Returned as elected

National secretary

✅ Uchenna Igwe – 66 votes

Returned as elected

Hassan Abdulsalam – 27 votes

Publicity Secretary 1

✅ Yahya Nurudeen Akewushola – 93 votes

Returned as elected

Publicity Secretary 2

✅ Alawode Vindication – 93 votes

Returned as elected

Financial Secretary

✅ Abiola Precious – 93 votes

Returned as elected

South west Zonal Cordinator

✅ Oluwatobi Odeyinka – 93 votes

North East Zonal Cordinator

✅ Emme Emmanuel Gwanah – 93 votes

Returned as elected

Please do note that, in accordance with Section 18 (9) of the Union’s Constitution, "all electoral complaints shall be entertained not later than 12 hours after the election."

Details of the handing over and inauguration will be made known once sorted.
