Properties worth millions of naira were lost as people couldn’t break through the lock shops to rescue the properties due to the explosive sounds emanating from the shop causing some of the walls of the building to collapse. The fire service department team were contacted as well as the Power Holding Company of Nigeria to turn of the power supply in order to prevent electrocution while quenching the fire. Lagos State University is expected to resume academic activities fully as the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities(SSANU) suspends strike today, Thursday, 25 February. The information was revealed to the student populace after an official press statement was released by the university's student union body, through the Public Relations Officer, Adams Zaenab. The press statement states that the university is expected to resume academic activities fully by Friday, 26 February after the strike has been suspended, further stating that the students are not to resume on campus yet as the university management would meet to discuss and officialy announce the resumption date. However, students were urged through the official bulletin to disregard any other source of information other than information coming from the office of the public relation officer of the Student Union Governemnt.

While students were locked out of the school premises, only the LASU international school students were allowed into the school premises, using an unusual route, “Back of Education” to ward off other students of the university into the premises.
