The Federal government led by the Honourable Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu has scheduled an emergency meeting with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over an impending strike action by the union.

The meeting according to a statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Bem Goong, is scheduled to hold today, Tuesday 6 April, 2021 at the Ministry's Headquarters in Abuja and is intended to "nip in the bud", threat to embark on another round of strike.

The statement also read, "It will be recalled that ASUU has issued a notice of strike over what the union has described as the refusal of Government to implement some of the agreements entered into between the union and the Federal Government."
It is also important to note that ASUU just called off a nine months strike January this year.
