By LESHI ADEBAYO OLUWAPELUMI

After LASU Blazers defeat, many would think that there would be a lesser crowd at the LASU Sport Center, but this turned out wrong, as there was a large turnout of students at the sports center for the football game which began at 10:04 am on 22nd, April 2021.

The two teams responsible for the early exit of LASU Blazers from the HIFL football competition Zone C.
As UNILAG Marines and LAUTECH clashed, LAUTECH opened the games, but in a swift turn of events, few minutes into the game, UNILAG Marines brought the heat upon the LAUTECH boys.

George, number 4, the defensive midfielder also created beautiful chances but all was to no avail as the LAUTECH players did well to hold down the fort to an extent as the formidable goalkeeper of the team Adesina Saka did well to defend his post.
The attack on LAUTECH players by the UNILAG Marines continued but they couldn't tear through the formidable defence and goalkeeper of the LAUTECH team.

As the game progressed, the UNILAG Marines got a free kick at 10:28am, which was well utilized as the first goal of the game was scored.
With this the LAUTECH players tightened their game and tried to equalize before the end of the first half but the UNILAG Marines weren't sleeping on the game too.
A turn in event happened as a result of the mistake of one of the UNILAG Marines players in their box, this resulted to a corner kick and a header was scored by a LAUTECH player, which brought the match to a tie at 10:49am, just minutes to the end of the first half, which ended at 10:53am.

After a 15mins break, the game begins again at 11:07am with UNILAG Marines opening the half.
The teams relaxed as the energy put into the game was weak compared to the first half.
LAUTECH had many missed goals, as the UNILAG Marines goalkeeper blocked their shots. The LAUTECH goalkeeper Adesina Saka was no different as he blocked the shots from the UNILAG Marines.

With more goals in the HIFL competition than their opponents, the match was in favour of LAUTECH players and were still very much in the game with a single point from the draw.
The match ended with a 1-1 draw at exactly 12pm, giving LAUTECH a spot in the next competition against FUTA.
Perhaps if UNILAG Marines scored more, they would have qualifies for a spot in the next round, but it simply was not their day.

LAUTECH with a total of 4 points and 3 goals tops the Zone C pot and edged past Unilag Marines who had just 2 goals so far in the competition.
