FAILURE TO CURB INSECURITY: THE RISING TREND OF INSECURITY IN NIGERIA

In reference to the primitive society, the primitive society or the ancient society has experienced countless of violent acts which include wars, crises and commotion even before the advent of the World War I (1914-1918) and World War II (1939-1945).

This implies that, violence is an age old phenomenon, and as a result of that, there is limit to this ugly cankerworm that has devoured and rooted the strength of many country in terms of the economy, political, socio-economic and many other sectors in the country. In addition, this means that violence could generate into an intense crisis or war between one another, diverse tribes, ethnic groups and religion extremism.

The rising trend of insecurity in the country has become highly disastrous especially on the lives and properties of the inhabitants of the land. This menace has devastatively undermining every nook and cranny of the country, Nigeria, and as well as constituting nuisance among diverse tribes, ethnic groups, and religions. In regards to this, the system has been painted with phobia as violence has generated into a total State of diversity, or instability.

In recent years, there are many cases of violence that have generated an intense crisis in the country resulting to high rate of death or causing the inhabitants of the community to be forced out of their community in order to enjoy peace, as this also is one of the factors contributing to the high degree of refugees and internal displaced persons (IDPs) in Africa especially in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In reference to the rising trend of insecurity in Nigeria, there is need to see to this menace before it becomes something that we cannot curb as this might have grown or shaped into an entirely whole, that is hard for the political and social actors to alleviate or curb.

Knowing fully well that one of the basic functions or responsibilities of a reasonable and reliable government is protecting lives and properties of her citizens, as well as maintaining peace, laws and orders as this aid co-peaceful existence among fellow citizens. Government must ensure stability rather than change as Edmund Burke will continue to emphasize stability rather than change.

The media has of course turned into another form of influence to the young minds, influencing them massively as the inability of government to listen to their clamour for good governance may of course be reacted through different means of media, and this may influence government policies. In essence, if government do not envision and project a state where a common man can walk freely without fear of kidnappers, terrorists or marauding herdsmen, there will always be an intense reactions from the masses because they are the owner of government, rule by whoever they want (elections), and the government must strictly adhere to their clamours if not, whoever comes into power will always continue to experience this same issue of insecurity in the country.

There is high need to see to the problem of insecurity, and analyse or evaluate the effects, causes and proffer durable solutions that would enable the country to survive another century without loopholes that open room for terrorism and incessant crisis.
