The football team of the Communication Students Association (COSA) emerged victorious over Education Students Association of Nigeria (ESAN) through a penalty shootout to win the LASUSU champions league for the first time.
Both sides failed to cancel each other in normal time as both defence lines were resolute over 90 minutes.
Both sides came close to scoring but the goalkeepers chose today to be the shining lights of the teams.
It was Saka Abdul-Azeez Abiola popularly called Saka whose illumination reigned supreme during the Penalty shootout.
Despite missing the first spot kick, he inspired the team to victory, saving two other penalties as the spot kicks ended 3-2.
Speaking to Ayomide Sotubo after the game, he said, "I did this for my faculty. That is why we are celebrating together. I don't need special thanks because I represent my faculty."
He also revealed that he relishes the moment because the faculty has been instrumental to his growth.
"The faculty converted me into a goalkeeper. The decision was not comforting at first but I feel on top of the world now."
