LASU Signs MoU with VDT Communications to Provide Free Internet Services

The Lagos State University management, on Friday, 7th of January 2022 spearheaded by her Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi I. Olatunji, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with VDT communications on the provision of free Internet service in the school premises.

  VDT Communications limited is a licensed private telecommunication service company that looks into data communication needs and specializes in the provision of enterprise Wide Area network (WAN) and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) link connectivity.

   The document makes provisions for effective internet services of the main campus, Ojo, the Lagos State University college of medicine (LASUCOM) Ikeja and Epe campus for both students and members of the teaching and non teaching staff.

    The Vice Chancellor delivered an opening remark where she recognized the importance of Internet in achieving LASU'S goals in her statement

"Our vision of becoming the best university in West Africa will be almost 70% achieved  once we have the internet"

   Dr Toyin Enikuomehin the acting director, directorate of information, communication, technology (DICT) highlighted the significance of internet services within the university campus when he said, "The need for internet service in the University can not be overemphasized. The signing of MoU is coming at the right time as it will broaden the scope of research, creativity and innovation, of staff and students of the University. Almost all the statutory services are web -based ranging from online, virtual public lectures, promotion and assessment evaluation forms for teaching and non teaching members of staff are all web based."
