LASU Wordsmith, Victory Ashaka Shines At UN 2022 Food Forum In Italy

Award winning orator and Word Poet, Victory Ashaka has yet again made the Lagos State University proud as he performed the official World Food Forum (WFF) anthem during the 2022 United Nations World Food Forum on Tuesday.

The 5-day event, which began on 17th of October, 2022 and is expected to end on 21st of October 2022 was held at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in Rome, Italy. 

The brilliant wordsmith, via his official Instagram page disclosed the information expressing his delight at the opportunity given to him to express himself on Wednesday.

He wrote, "I'm glad to have been invited to FAO of the United Nations Headquarters in Rome, Italy for the World Food Forum. From 17-21 October, the FAO Director- General will convene Heads of State, Government and Policy Makers, together with youth, non-governmental actors and the private sector to the Flagship Event of WFF, with the theme Healthy Diets; Healthy Planet.

"I'm so delighted about gracing the stage and performing the official WFF poem before world leaders and all of humankind. am also up for meaningful discussion, engagement and connecting with different stakeholders in the coming days. So grateful to God for making this a reality for my service to humanity and many thanks to everyone who has shown profound support. I'm grateful."

Victory Ashaka is a 300 level student of the Department of English Language, Lagos State University (LASU). He has won a good number of awards and honours in area of speaking and oration. Among them is the 2nd place prize for the National Orientation Agency (NOA) national video challenge in 2021; he won the Best Poet at the Max 90.9FM Nigeria Independence Day Competition (2020) etc. 

Notably, Victory Ashaka has been recognised at the international level as he was invited to the British Embassy, at the residence of the British High Commissioner to mark the United Nations 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, where he presented his poem and shared the stage with Wole Soyinka and other dignitaries in 2021.
