The Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, has been conferred with an Award of Excellence by the King of Igbogbo Kingdom, HRM, Oba Barr. Abdulsemiu Orimadegun Kasali on Sunday, 20th November, 2022 in Igbogbo town, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The VC was honoured, with the award, by the monarch during the 2022 Igbogbo Day Celebration which held at the Mikkson Onas Event Centre, Igbogbo.
According to HRM, Oba Abdusemiu Kasali, the award was a testament of her forthrightness and empathy in the discharge of the management of the University.
He said, that the VC was honoured as a result of her "excellent performance as Vice Chancellor, which is undoubtedly a chariot in the realisation of the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State’’.
Expressing gratitude towards the VC's efforts, Oba Kasali added, “We appreciate your humility and your love for our kingdom and our youth. We are very happy with you and we thank God for your life. May you not become too big in your own eyes. ’’
Appreciating the honour shown to her, Prof Olatunji-Bello dedicated the award to the entire youths of Igbogbo town as well as all LASU students and, promised to continue to do her best for the upliftment of youths in the society.
Notably, among the top representatives of the university that graced the event were the LASU Bursar, Mr. Said Babatunde Olayinka; the University Librarian, Dr. Emmanuel Layi Adebayo; Deputy Registrar, (Office of the VC) Dr. Lateef Sekoni, who represented the Registrar; the ICT Director, Prof. Toyin Enikuomehin, and Special Assistant to the VC, Dr. Lateef Salami, amongst others.
