The management of the Lagos State University led by its Students Affairs Division has, on Thursday, held the 1st batch of the NYSC Pre-Mobilisation Orientation programme for all final year students at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Ojo Campus.
ACJ-LASU gathered that according to the Dean, Students Affairs Division, Prof. Tajudeen Olumoko, who gave the welcome message on first day of the event, the purpose of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Pre-Mobilisation Orientation programe was to sensitize the students on procedures for online registration during their NYSC mobilisation exercise and other related issues.
Then, Deputy Registrar, Students' Affairs, Mrs. Z.F. Ashiru-Mobolaji, also gave a welcome message, saying, "the University Management, ably led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olatunji-Bello, mni, has made the pre-mobilization programme part of the welfare package she has for the students so that they can have a hitch free NYSC mobilization exercise".
The first speaker was Assistant Director, Deployment and Relocation, Mrs Matthias Margaret Omaji, who spoke on the background and general information about the NYSC scheme, its history, purpose, aims and objectives, deployment policies attached to it as well as what to expect after the NYSC mobilization exercise.
Speaking on the "Procedures for Registration and other NYSC Related lssues" was the ICT Desk Officer, NYSC Secretariat, Lagos, Engr. Afe Olufemi who gave a detail presentation on whole registration process.
The Admission Officer/Principal Assistant Registrar, Admissions, LASU, Mr. Kabiru Okugbesan, the 3rd speaker talked on the "Relationship between NYSC and JAMB" and why the students should be aware of the differences.
The final presentation for the sensitization exercise was done by Assistant Chief Executive Officer/ NYSC Data Entry Officer, LASU, Mr. Ismail Bariu, who talked on an "Error-free enrollment into the NYSC Mobilization Portal".
Bringing the programme to a close, the facilitators gave answers to key questions raised by some of students while Head, NYSC Mobilization Unit, Students' Affairs, LASU, Mrs Rukayat Adediran, gave the vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, the 2nd and 3rd batches of pre-mobilization exercise are to be held on Wednesday, 7th and Friday, 9th of December, 2022 (Epe Campus and College of Medicine Campus, Ikeja respectively) by 10am prompt.
