LASU VC Says ACEITSE Programme Is Critical To Attaining Academic Greatness In West Africa

The Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello mni has emphasized that the Africa Centre Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education (ACEITSE) programme is critical to achieving the institution's goal and desire of becoming the best University in West Africa.

The VC made the declaration during the orientation programme for newly admitted (Masters and PhD) national and international students, which took place at the ACEITSE Conference Hall, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, on 26th of October, 2022.

According to Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, who was ably represented by Professor Adenike Boyo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), the ACEITSE programme cannot be overlooked and must be given full attention.

In her opening speech, she said, "The Lagos State University ACEITSE Programme is very critical to our objective of internalization and the quest to make our University the best, in West Africa. That is why we take this orientation very important and indeed everything that has to do with the ACEITSE".

Speaking further, the VC stated that the management was committed to the goals and aspirations of the Ace-impact and the institution would continue to sustain and improve the academic and administrative performance of the Centre.

Commending the ACIETSE centre, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello noted that the works of the Centre, since its establishment in 2018, has continued to play a key role in capacity building for both the students registered for the programme as well as other students and staff of the University.

Assuring the Centre of continuous support, LASU VC affirmed ACEITSE would always have the support of the University's Management, in the area of facilitating the appointment of ACEITSE Consultants, provision of a benefitting lodge on the main campus for the international students, support for accreditation efforts, among other benefits. 

Notably, the Africa Centre Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education (ACEITSE) was established in 2018 as an initiative of the World Bank and co-funded by the World Bank and Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD) or French Development Agency. 

The programme is committed to producing innovative & transformative master teachers who will inspire learning in Science and Technology and it has its research works published globally.
