2022 Campus Journalism Awards: LASU Shines As 2 Students Bag Campus Journalism Awards.

Two students of the Lagos State University, Abdul Semiu Monsuroh and Mahmood Oyeleye have won the awards for Best Entertainment Report and Author of the Year, respectively in the 2022 Edition of the Campus Journalism Awards held at Abuja on 10th of December, 2022. 

Abdulsemiu Monsuroh, a 300 level journalism student of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (FCMS) won the Entertainment category with her investigative story titled, "Empty crowns: How winners of LASU's beauty pageant are extorted, denied prizes", which was published on The Cable while Mahmuddah Olaleye, a student of the Economics department won the Author of the Year category with her novel titled, "Faded blues."

Among the attendees at the event were Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina; Publisher of the Daily Trust Newspaper, Mallam Mannir Dan-Alli; Executive Director of Youths Digest, Mr Gidado Shuaibu.

Notably, this is not first time the Best Entertainment Report Award will be coming to FCMS formerly School of Communication, as in the 4th edition of the event in 2021, Ex-President of the Communication Students' Association and an alumni of the Lagos State University, Comr. Shakiru Omolade Sanni won the award.

Initiated in 2018 by Youth Digest, the campus Journalism Awards' purpose is annually recognise outstanding campus journalists, who have made extraordinary contributions to promoting qualitative Journalism in Nigerian institutions.
