LASUSU sets IAC ahead of 33rd Elections

The Lagos State University Students' Union (LASUSU) has formed the 33rd Independent Audit Committee (IAC) on January 18, 2023.

This to ensure financial transparency and accountability in the current and incoming student government administration. The committee, led by Comrade Alaka Abdullahi, will be known as the "Diaphanous Team."

The primary responsibility of the 33rd LASUSU IAC is to conduct an independent review of the financial records of the current student government and those who are running for office to ensure that there has been no financial misconduct. 

The committee will also examine the financial records of the student government during the transition period to ensure a smooth transfer of financial responsibility from one administration to the next.

Comrade Alaka Abdullahi, Chairman of the 33rd IAC, said that the committee has been formed with the objective of ensuring financial discipline and accountability across all levels of the student government. He added that the team comprises of members with attributes of intellectual curiosity, professional scepticism, courageous decision-making, balanced, fair, objective and ethical approach to reports and whistleblowing and oversight of key risks, not just financial.

The members of the Diaphanous Team include Alaka Abullaih from the Faculty of Social Sciences serving as the Chairman, Oremeru Oluwaremilekun from the Faculty of Education serving as the Secretary, Ogunkanmi Jacob from the Faculty of Mass Communication serving as the Public Relations Officer, Osunkoya Emmanuel from the Faculty of Transport serving as the Treasurer and other members of the 33rd IAC are Bada Lukman(Management Science), Daniel King (Science), Orimoloye Benjamin(Agriculture), Odugbemi Oluwadarasimi(Law), Otasanya Zainab(Art), Ajayi Feyishayo(Lasucom) and Alade Saheed(Engineering).
