The esteemed group of skilled orators from Lagos State University, known as the "LASU Debate Society," recently arranged a four-day excursion dedicated to enhancing public speaking skills. The trip, held in Badagry, aimed to equip participants with improved speaking abilities and boost their confidence levels.
The retreat commenced on Thursday, 18th, 2023, with a social session led by Agosu Seide, a Law student and Public Speaking Coach. During this session, the participants had the opportunity to connect with one another and get acquainted.
On Day 2 of the event, the participants had the chance to learn about various aspects of public speaking. Coach Ehrwu provided insights into content creation, Coach Victory shared expertise in spoken word, and Coach Tolu conducted a session on British Parliamentary Debate.
Continuing with the retreat, Coach Kiah, widely recognized as the "Beast of Public Speaking," took the stage on Day 3 to discuss "the art of storytelling." Later that day, a bonfire gathering was organized, where anonymous reviews from the participants were read aloud.
To conclude the program, Dr. Ganiu Bamgbose, a lecturer from the Department of English at Lagos State University, facilitated a session on the essence of a public speaker. He emphasized the importance of not seeking shortcuts in life, stating, "If you seek shortcuts in life, you would be cut short."
