In a significant turn of events, the 34th Independent Electoral Committee (IEC), also known as "The Pellucid," led by Chairman Adegbola Mubarak Dare, has officially declared the LASUSU general election held on October 31, 2023, as conclusive. This announcement was made in a solemn gathering at the hallowed chamber in Arcade on November 8, 2023.
Addressing the issues that initially led to the election's nullification on November 1, 2023, Chairman Adegbola Mubarak elaborated on the reasons for the IEC's decision. These issues included a substantial disparity between manually accredited voters and electronically accredited voters, students being disenfranchised due to network issues, and concerns regarding candidates voted in with proxies. After thorough investigations, the IEC concluded that these issues couldn't be attributed to a particular aspirant, leading to the election's conclusive declaration.
Chairman Adegbola Mubarak expressed his apologies to the student body and announced that recommendations for improving the election process had been presented for further consideration to prevent a reoccurrence of the previous election. He then proceeded to announce the results for various aspirants.
For the position of Assistant General Secretary (AGS), Ogunade Oluwaseun and Olofin-Onite Emmanuel contested, with Ogunade Oluwaseun emerging as the winner with 367 votes to Olofin-Onite Emmanuel's 316.
In the races for AGS of Ikeja and Ojo campuses, Akintola Zulikif and Adekunle were elected uncontested.
Ibiade Benjamin secured 3,505 votes, defeating Asikoto with 1,569 votes and Shola Royal with 2,930 votes for the public relations officer position.
Other elected officials included the Sports Director, Social Director, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Vice Presidents for Epe and Ikeja campuses, and the Vice President for Ojo Campus, with Boss Lady emerging victorious in her category.
The highly anticipated presidential results were then unveiled, with Tobun Haroon securing a remarkable 3,666 votes and winning the presidency. Kappa, Ko is ok, and Oracle received 3,547, 2,084, and 390 votes, respectively.

The decision to acknowledge the election results came after the IEC previously declared the result inconclusive due to significant disparities in the number of manually accredited voters and students being disenfranchised from certain faculties. The committee has also provided recommendations to the school authorities to prevent similar issues in the future.
