"Peaceful Start Marks Faculty of Law Election in LASUSU 34th Election"

In the 34th LASUSU election on November 1, 2023, at the Faculty of Law polling unit, voting commenced at 12 pm. Aspirants' agents gained access to the voting hall, and security remained tight. Notably, Adeyemi, a general secretary aspirant, and KAPPA, a presidential aspirant, visited to ensure their agents' participation.

However, an issue arose as canvassers were asked to exit the voting hall, leaving only one agent per aspirant. Maverick's agent expressed concern about students' tokens being collected to vote on their behalf due to the absence of laptops or computers in the voting hall.

Our ACJ correspondent inquired about provisions for students without phones. Boluwatifecarry, a LASUSU senator, mentioned it was the IEC's responsibility, but he made his phone available for such students. The IEC members responsible for voting tokens explained that it was the faculty's duty to provide computers, citing concerns about potential chaos and overcrowding.

Adamson, the IEC welfare director, clarified that the lack of computer provision applied to all faculties to prevent disorder.

It's worth noting that some aspirants' agents, including SOLA ROYAL, a PRO aspirant, did not appear at the polling unit. Nevertheless, the election process proceeded relatively smoothly without major disruptions.
