WealthWise Project Empowers LASU Students on Financial Literacy

By Akeredolu Gbolahan
The Junior Chamber International Nigeria of the Lagos State University (JCI-LASU) recently hosted a successful WealthWise Project on Financial Literacy at the S.L Edu Hall on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

Keynote speaker Emmanuel Adegbenro, representing Mrs. Paul-Ottu, Head of Program for Yellow Cowries, emphasized that financial well-being is more important than riches. He stressed that success requires effort and planning, not just luck, and encouraged students to set their priorities right.

Olarenwaju Balogun Adedoyi, CEO of Pride Holdings Investment Company, highlighted the importance of budgeting and monitoring finances. "You have to be an economist and have a strict budget over your finances," he advised. "If you don't spend money wisely, you will learn the hard way."

Kikelomo Owoyale, CEO of Shefoundry, inspired students to take control of their success. "You don't have to depend on someone for your success. You have to show up for yourself," she said. Owoyale also encouraged volunteering as a way to gain opportunities and leverage for personal growth.

The WealthWise Project aimed to equip LASU students with essential knowledge and skills for financial independence and success. With insightful presentations and expert advice, attendees left the event empowered to take charge of their financial futures.
