By Hamzat Ameenat The Faculty of Arts of the Lagos State University has emerged victorious in the recently concluded interfaculty debate, Word War VI, organized by the Lagos State Debate Society (LASUDS), on Wednesday 13th March 2024.  This marks the first time in six years that the Faculty of Arts since the Word War Debate Competition started.  The event which was held at the Moot Court, Faculty of Law featured eight students from four faculties across all LASU campuses, who delivered thought-provoking speeches with powerful bants on a wide range of selected topics. The first round was between  Agose Sylvester from Epe Campus and Saheed Sunday, from the faculty of Art, debating on the topic: The Removal of Subsidy: A Step to the Right Direction or Wrongly Timed Decision. By Ayo Oladiran The Lagos State University Students Union (LASUSU) 34th Legal Director, Tijani Salaudeen has promised due legal representation for all students.  The legal director said this at a press conference on Wednesday where he unveiled members of his legal team and shared his plans with the members of the press.  According to Salaudeen, as long as the case is within the jurisdiction of the Students Judicial Council (SJC), the legal team will be available to provide representation even though the primary task of the legal director is to defend the Students Executive Council (SEC). By Elsie Udoh The university management has, on Saturday, issued a fresh directive stating that late course registration and school fee payment will attract an extra N5,000 fee.  The said extra fee will be effected starting Tuesday, March 12 to Friday, March 22, 2024, lasting two weeks. Thus the directive was issued to deter students from late registration and incurring additional charges.  Students are advised to pay their school fees and register for their courses before the deadline to enable them access to a collection of their examination docket which is a requirement for participation in the upcoming Harmattan semester examination.

By Ashiah Sanusi In a welcome development for students across Lagos State University, the 34th LASUSU administration has announced an extension of the deadline for the payment of school fees and course registration.    The initial deadline, which was set for February 29, 2024, has now been extended to March 15, 2024, providing students with additional time to pay their school fees and complete their course registration.    The decision is in fulfilment of the promise made by the union earlier in a bid to lessen the crunch of the current situation of the country on the students.    By extending the deadline, the administration ensures that all students have the opportunity to complete their registration without facing undue financial stress.
