Mariam Ileyemi Africa Check has shortlisted Oluwaseye Ogunsanya, a 400-level student of Lagos State University, editor at the Association of Campus Journalist (ACJ-LASU) and fact checker at People's Check for the 2020 African Fact-Checking Awards. Africa Check which is Africa’s first independent fact-checking organisation, made this announcement on their official website , noting that a record number of 192 entries from 27 countries across the continent, were received for the 2020 awards. According to the organisation, the awards, which is now in its seventh year, is the only awards programme that honours journalism by Africa-based media in the expanding field of fact-checking. The categories for this year include Fact-Check of the Year by a Working Journalist and Fact-Check of the Year by a Student Journalist. The event is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, October 14th, 2020. Kuti Hammed Amidst the Global Pandemic, the 24th Convocation Ceremony of the Lagos State University, albeit suspended is scheduled to hold from Friday 30th of October, 2020 to Friday 6th of November, 2020. The Convocation Ceremony which is usually a fun-filled event celebrating Educational excellence amongst the Graduating students of the University, wouldn't be the same this year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
