The Lagos State University student arcade has been under construction for some years but was finally commissioned on the 2nd of December 2021 by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, amidst controversies. By Erioluwa Adura A professor at the Lagos State University (LASU), Taibat Bolanle Danmole, has been confirmed to have passed on after a brief illness. Professor Danmole who passed on at the age of 71, days after her retirement at the Lagos State University to join the husband in Ilorin, North-central Nigeria ACJ reports that Danmole was the eldest daughter of the late Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi. Her death came exactly 28 days after her father joined his ancestors. Danmole was said to have passed on at the age of 71, days after her retirement at the varsity to join her husband in Ilorin, Northcentral Nigeria. A family source confirmed her death, maintaining that the Don, who was also married to another lecturer, died yesterday and would be laid to rest on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites in the state. By Ajayi  Samiat The Lagos State University has reinstated its discontinued Part-time Degree for suitable candidates in the 2021/2022 academic session.     The Lagos State University Consult is now accepting applications from prospective candidates for the Programme. The Part-time Degree was suspended in 2011 by the then governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola. In 2012, the National Universities Commission (NUC) clarified that the Part-time Degree Programme was not abolished but suspended for a while to conduct forensic audit in institutions. The newly reinstated programme has an age limit of 18 years. It offers 16 programmes with an application fee of 10,000 to be paid within six weeks. By Bello Oluwadamilola Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, Divine Ikubor, well known by his stage name Rema, has brought it to the notice of the public that he recently gained admission into the University of Lagos to study Creative Arts. The young musician announced this in a tweet on Friday, where he gave the reason about why he's going to school. According to him, his mum wanted him to get a degree, hence his decision to return to school.  The announcement tweet read, "What if I told ya'll that I got an admission into Unilag? Lol, Mom said I still need to get a degree. Oh well, see you guys in class!" Rema who is currently signed to one of the top Record labels in Nigeria Don Jazzy's Mavin Record Label, noted that he'd try to drop his forthcoming album before he enters school so they will not beat him in UNILAG.

The 25th convocation is set to hold in March this year. LASU's last convocation ceremony was held two years ago on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. The visitor to the ceremony was the Governor Babajide Sanwoolu. The convocation was termed a remarkable one by the then Vice-Chancellor, Olanrewaju Fagbohun, because the best graduating students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels set a new university record.
